The GRC Peer Group for Religion and Politics

The GRC Peer Group for Religion and Politics deals with the question of whether and how scientific expertise relevant in social and political dealings with religion can be generated.

The starting point for dealing with this topic is the observation that religious issues are of increasing social importance and, due to their complexity, require a multi-perspective analysis.

The GRC Peer Group for Religion and Politics pursues the goal of bundling competencies in this field and making them fruitful in interdisciplinary analyses of current problem cases.

The members of the Peer Group cover a broad spectrum of scientific expertise from religious studies, political science, law, ethnology, sociology, Islamic studies, geography, history, gender studies, psychology, and media studies. Geographically, they gather knowledge of South and East Asia, the Middle East, Russia and Crimea, North Africa, Europe, and Switzerland.

Twice a year, the Peer Group invites speakers and guests from academia, administration, politics, diplomacy, business, and media to discuss issues related to religion and politics.
